Single jet engine aircraft history began with the development of the Coanda 1910. Many engineers worked on the concept of using turbojet and ramjet technology inside a fuselage. Early examples include Caproni-Campini N.1 and the Leduc 0.10. During World War II, British designers built the Miles M.52 and the de Havilland Vampire. American designs included the P-80 Shooting Star and the F-104 Starfighter.
