Dave Taylor here and I'm checking these
0:12
out while we get them out of the case I
0:15
am checking these out these are tiny
0:19
little guys are the Rope Ian ascent
0:22
micro and they are fully wireless
0:25
Bluetooth ear buds and they're pretty
0:28
darn sweet so let me tell you a little
0:30
bit about the specs they run Bluetooth
0:33
5.0 and ble Bluetooth Low Energy and
0:36
they have super fast pairing so
0:38
basically as soon as you take them out
0:40
of the case they're paired to the point
0:42
where you take them out and by the time
0:44
they're in your ears they're already
0:45
paired and ready to go with whatever
0:47
device you have they have what they call
0:50
this is very fancy laser direct
0:53
structuring antenna technology what it
0:56
means in practice is that not once never
1:00
did I have the left ear go out while I
1:02
was listening and I walked all over the
1:05
place I was listening with my phone 15
1:07
20 feet away I never had any drop out at
1:10
all which is really an accomplishment
1:12
because prior to trying these units the
1:15
Apple earpods were the only ones that I
1:18
could say that about every other
1:20
wireless earbuds had some issue with
1:22
that except for these very cool now each
1:26
one is as you can say as you can see
1:29
each one of these is really tiny in fact
1:32
it's 0.23 ounces so these are pretty
1:36
darn light the case itself is 2.3 ounces
1:39
and let me tell you a little bit about
1:41
the batteries so each of these guys has
1:43
a 60 milliamp hour battery in it and
1:46
then the case has an 870 milliamp hour
1:50
battery and that means that each of
1:52
these units will run for three to four
1:55
hours on a charge but then when you're
1:58
running low on battery you put them back
2:01
in the case and they click in then
2:04
there's a little tiny LED that shows you
2:07
the status and it will charge
2:10
four more times that means you get a
2:12
total of 17 additional hours of music or
2:16
audio or audio books or audio from
2:20
movies or if you're on the phone it
2:22
obviously will work for that all of that
2:25
is like 24 hours of play off of the
2:28
earbuds themselves and the case that's
2:32
pretty sweet
2:33
now case takes about two hours to charge
2:36
fully from dead and this is something
2:38
you want to know it uses a USBC
2:41
connector now I like USB see that works
2:44
really well but in the box and it's turn
2:48
around give you the other side too in
2:50
the box it comes with there we go
2:53
it comes with a USB c2 USBC connector
2:57
now for people that don't have USB C on
3:01
both ends it does come with a USB 3.0
3:05
adapter that's kind of interesting
3:07
because I have the opposite adapter I
3:09
don't have one that goes USB C 2 USB 3
3:13
that's a lot of USBs but if you have
3:17
old-school chargers this is what you're
3:19
gonna end up doing but either way it
3:21
doesn't really matter comes to the wire
3:23
you need and the thing is you're not
3:25
gonna be charging them that often so
3:27
what I really like is the USB C is the
3:30
charging cable of choice for most modern
3:33
laptops like mac books for example and
3:35
so it'll work just fine with this - and
3:38
that is really great now since I have
3:40
the box here I can tell you that it
3:42
comes with three different sizes of ear
3:45
tips and I always switch out different
3:49
sizes and try them it makes a huge
3:52
difference in the sound I will tell you
3:54
that when I had the medium sizes on that
3:58
a medium ear tips I should say then it
4:00
sounded ok but then when I put the large
4:03
ear tips on and put those back in my
4:05
ears it was like holy-moly these sound
4:08
really good and let's talk about that
4:10
now the actual quality of the audio is
4:15
amazing it's really good
4:18
these sound really good they give you a
4:20
full soundstage they give you a lot
4:24
clarity there's a lot of bass I've been
4:26
listening to some music where there's
4:28
sort of that low reverb echoey bass and
4:31
you can just hear it crystal-clear with
4:34
these now what I will say is and this is
4:37
true of everything of this design if
4:39
you're in a loud environment these
4:40
aren't going to make all that noise go
4:42
away although they do have some noise
4:44
reduction and echo cancellation I think
4:46
that actually probably is more important
4:48
for phone calls so these do not
4:50
magically take you away from any
4:52
environment you can be in but if you're
4:55
in a relatively quiet environment and I
4:57
think about like being in maybe a
4:59
library or being at an office or
5:02
something where it's fairly quiet these
5:05
will definitely transport you with
5:06
whatever music you're listening to and
5:08
that's pretty nice now they also support
5:12
a ton of different music profiles
5:13
including hf p h SP AV r CP a2dp and SP
5:21
p now there's a couple you don't see
5:24
there is you don't see things like a PT
5:28
X and you don't see a AC so they don't
5:30
support those higher you know super
5:33
clarity systems but you know what they
5:35
still sound really really nice and
5:38
additional to know I px5 sweat and
5:42
waterproof so I'm not sure about the
5:44
case but the earbuds themselves you can
5:46
wear these at the gym and if you're
5:48
sweaty because you've been doing a hard
5:50
workout it's not an issue
5:52
now whether they'll stay in your ear is
5:55
a slightly different story so that might
5:57
be something where a more traditional
5:59
like hook or over the ear earbud for
6:03
sports might work better if you're
6:04
really aggressive in your workouts or
6:06
you're going for a long run on mountain
6:08
roads or something but I found that
6:11
these stay in and they're very
6:12
comfortable and really you forget you're
6:14
wearing them it's just like here you are
6:16
and you have this great loud rich music
6:19
and other people look at you and they
6:21
have no idea you have anything on so
6:22
they start coming over and talking to
6:24
you and you don't have to hear them it's
6:26
glorious
6:27
although eventually you do have to hear
6:29
them so one of the nice things they've
6:31
done although they haven't documented it
6:33
very well is they have tap sequences so
6:36
when it's in your
6:37
year and left goes into the left ear
6:40
right goes in the right ear exactly as
6:42
you would hope so once it's in your ear
6:45
it turns out that a DoubleTap on the
6:48
left will get you next track a DoubleTap
6:52
on the right is pause or play or answer
6:54
or hang up phone call a triple tap on
6:57
the right will get you to Siri or hello
7:00
Google or whatever it is that you're
7:02
using for your voice interaction system
7:04
and then a triple tap on the left ear
7:07
gets you the previous track so there is
7:10
no volume control that is something that
7:12
you might actually want to be aware of
7:14
but that's true of almost all of these
7:16
there's no slider there's no plus or
7:19
minus it's just not that kind of
7:21
functionality so for that you actually
7:23
would use it with your actual audio
7:26
source device or I suppose you could use
7:28
something like Siri and triple tap and
7:31
then say lower volume or something like
7:33
that that would probably work I haven't
7:35
tried that I will say phonecall
7:38
experience the phone call was nice and
7:40
they use both earpieces so your phone
7:42
the person you're talking to seems like
7:44
their side of you know in the center not
7:46
just the right ear the person at the
7:49
other end said there was a lot of
7:50
ambient noise but I was in a very noisy
7:53
environment and we did have an entirely
7:54
normal conversation even though I was
7:57
outside with a lot going on so they
8:00
didn't report that it sounded fantastic
8:02
but I think that when I tried a second
8:05
call actually I know when I tried a
8:06
second call it did sound better so you
8:09
know if you're gonna use these for lots
8:11
and lots of phone calls they might not
8:13
be optimal to but they will certainly
8:15
work and certainly give you the you know
8:17
good results but I would say really this
8:19
is more about music these are really
8:22
more about listening and as opposed to
8:24
talking and let's see what else can I
8:27
tell you is that there is an app here's
8:29
a quick screenshot of it using the route
8:32
can app you could actually adjust your
8:34
EQ curves and some other settings which
8:37
is super handy I didn't find the need to
8:40
use those I feel like out of the box or
8:42
out of the little box that it actually
8:45
worked just fine and you know let me
8:47
tell you about the box is a really
8:49
really nice feeling piece
8:52
Electronics and it's a very hard plastic
8:55
but it has ridges on it and it just has
8:58
a really good hand feel as they say in
9:01
testing and I like it I think they just
9:04
got they got so much right here and you
9:07
know I really want to give props to rau
9:09
Caen because I have no criticisms I have
9:11
no negatives about these these are
9:13
really nice and even the price point
9:16
makes these a really viable option for
9:19
people you know particularly if you're
9:20
not a huge fan of the Apple product line
9:22
these work just fine and they don't come
9:26
in white but honestly okay so they come
9:29
in this black and they have a gray they
9:32
call slate and then there's this really
9:34
cool cobalt come color that's coming out
9:36
but you'll have to do a little homework
9:38
to figure out how to get a pair I'm
9:41
being mysterious cuz they're being
9:43
mysterious so before I tell you the
9:46
price let me ask if you can go ahead and
9:47
click that subscribe button and give me
9:49
some feedback if you're listening to
9:51
true wireless earphones or earbuds let
9:54
me know what you're listening to and how
9:55
they work for you because I'm really
9:56
curious what people are actually using
9:58
in the field okay with all that these
10:02
well these are the route can ascend
10:05
micro Tru wireless earbuds they are very
10:09
cool they are very worth you checking
10:11
out and they will cost you $99 a trial
10:14
can calm this is Dave Taylor and I will
10:17
catch you in my next video
