hello everyone and welcome to this show campus 2 corporate my name is basar and
0:40
I'm your host today so this um this show is especially and
0:48
designed for the students who are actually pass out from the college or about to pass out from the college um
0:56
essentially we are keeping in mind there are several issues and the gap between the industry
1:03
and the academy year to fulfill those gaps we have brought up you know this
1:08
show which is campus to corporate uh uh in different episodes people from the
1:16
industry and uh the experts they will be joining us they will be sharing their experience and uh giving it tips you
1:24
know how you can go ahead and succeed we often you know face um rejections in our
1:30
life in colleges in interviews in you know um in in daily routine wherever you
1:36
are working on to but how to face those challenges the rejections and that's
1:41
what is all about today's episode which is the stories of rejections and
1:48
comebacks so we have guest today he is one of the industry leader uh he is
1:55
co-founder and CEO of GX system Mr ano Jan
2:00
um I can say a lot about him but I would request him to you know introduce himself and say something about him and
2:07
then we can start the show all right uh thank you
2:15
basar uh good evening everyone uh as basar mentioned my name
2:21
is ano Jen and I am an entrepreneur by
2:26
force uh that is how actually I in I inod myself uh so I have spent almost 28
2:34
years in IT industry and seen many ups and downs of the industry in last 28
2:42
years I have started uh career as a traine as uh uh uh you are about to
2:50
start or some some of them actually have been doing it and uh work with the various
2:57
organization in last 28 years uh worked in India worked in US various
3:05
clients and in 2013 I started uh uh my own organization
3:11
after working for almost uh uh 16 years
3:16
uh uh in IT industry so I decided that uh let me start my own it organization
3:22
so I started GX system and uh from there onward uh my journey of being the inter
3:30
I'm actually enjoying that journey and uh uh right now actually I'm in front of
3:38
you so that's it basar from my side this
3:43
is all cool you know I like that word which is I'm forced
3:49
entrepreneur uh all good all good so uh let's begin with the session and you
3:55
know have a couple of questions and possibly you know we can get more questions from the audiences too so ano
4:03
um going forward U would like to know since you have fa lot of you know um ups
4:10
and downs as you said uh what is your memorable rejection where you can still
4:17
cherishing it in terms of you know you learned a lot from there and uh that was
4:23
a turning point for you okay uh so uh
4:30
I would say that uh my turning point was uh uh
4:35
2013 uh so I joined the uh company name d uh it it was in Bangalore and uh I was
4:45
actually been walking with them and I was working as a like program director
4:51
for their d.com platform uh so we used to put like lot
4:57
of effort uh uh uh uh while actually bringing a lot of changes to the d.com
5:03
platform it was not that easy to actually bring it uh but at the end of
5:09
the day uh after like working for almost five years close to five years uh the
5:15
company has decided to actually me downsize themselves and when that happens uh so I
5:23
was actually I mean one of the person uh who actually I mean was part of that
5:30
downsize uh so that was the like uh reaction even actually been doing best
5:35
from our side uh from my side and uh uh
5:41
then I decided that uh no more actually have been work for any other company so
5:48
uh I decided that point onward uh I took a decision that I want to set on my own
5:56
and I will do it for myself that was like turning point B for me that they
6:03
have downsized it and IED that I wow this is good I mean
6:12
most of the people I saw even they face any any rejection then they they get demotivated
6:21
and you know similar to this the based on uh the same situation I have another
6:26
question which is um how how you are making yourself motivated you know after
6:33
getting rejections in fact it is not only one rejection even if you are getting several rejections how you can
6:40
you know get um get you know motivated uh moving forward so that you know uh
6:46
you can perform well you can you know do your best and you can move towards your
6:52
target how you do it yeah so uh uh in in
6:58
your life basar uh you have to make a goal actually right so uh I have like
7:06
when I started my career I had like my my goal that I want to go to the San
7:11
Francisco like I used to dream it actually and I I I was not actually sure
7:17
that my dream actually will be true I used to learn that uh uh Golden Gate City of Golden Gate in the San Francisco
7:24
right but uh uh when I graduated and then I did my masters uh uh uh uh and
7:32
then I like after like a lot of effort I got my first job uh with a very small
7:37
organization they actually admire me and they actually sent me to the city Golden
7:43
Gate City of the Golden Gate it was way back actually in 1998 so it was actually
7:48
been my goal that time that I set it up that I want to actually have go to the
7:54
city of Golden Gate so I achieved it but any anytime actually I mean I get the
8:00
rejection I look for that I want to actually me go to the next level actually from there and uh that actually
8:07
I been helped me a lot uh uh when in my
8:13
entire life I got like a few rejections every time actually I mean I got a
8:18
little actually upset about that because there was no actually mean reason that I should have been in that situation but
8:26
the same time I thought about myself did I did anything wrong no if I I haven't
8:33
done anything wrong and I'm in the situation it means that that is not my fault right I can go actually next next
8:41
level from there so that was the mo motivating point for me that I wasn't actually at the fault at any point of
8:50
time so awesome I mean um looking at
8:56
yourself getting yourself as a review you know that's another another level of
9:01
course you know everybody should be doing it so that they can go ahead and improve it the goal is something where
9:08
um you can always move towards that direction and that's how you know you can learn you can you know improve
9:14
yourself great uh can you please tell me
9:19
how you can you know adopt the new things the skills how you are improving yourself in a day basis even though I
9:27
mean it's not all about the rejections but uh making or preparing yourself for
9:32
the upcoming rejections how you are preparing yourself sure uh so uh I think uh I
9:42
actually mean get the inspiration from uh uh other Industries uh uh not from it
9:49
itself but from other Industries like uh if you go to the doctor right uh uh I
9:55
have seen X me doctors are like even uh uh they old they have to actually I mean learn new
10:02
things so I used to talk actually I mean like couple of my known actually they
10:07
were a doctor when I was actually young and they they used to tell me that it is
10:13
not that they have to study like 10 years but they have to keep updated yourself right so that was the first
10:21
point uh I actually I mean took it from them that if I go in any industry I have
10:27
to make sure that I actually I mean uh at the stage where that industry is so
10:35
that actually I mean motivates me to uh learn about uh new things to actually I
10:41
mean participate uh uh in the new things since I started uh my own organization B
10:48
it becomes imperative for me to actually learn the new technology because I'm
10:54
like front face for any any communic
10:59
ation any conversation that happen from the GX system I have to participate in
11:04
many of them actually and I have to keep updated myself so that also motivates me
11:10
to keep updated from one Technologies to another what is coming up into the market as the New
11:16
York wow I know that the responsibilities of the leaders uh the
11:22
people who are taking you know moving forward um it's it's very big you know if you are the leader in your company
11:29
you have to you know um take that initiative and uh accept all the
11:34
challenges you know moving forward so all all good then
11:40
so um do you think that only skill upscaling I know that the developers and
11:48
the people what they do um they are looking into what is the current running
11:53
in the market the trend the technology and whatnot uh but do you really think that
12:00
up upgrading their skills or learning more skills is only a way or there are
12:07
something else where people they can go and uh you know grab those opportunities
12:12
so that it will help to grow in their career yeah so I think I have prepared
12:20
actually basar slide which I think I I will go through uh sure in the session
12:26
but uh I think technology is like one of the area actually I mean where you have
12:31
to be Master into because if you go in any organization they will look for the technology as a first thing right but
12:39
immediately the second thing actually will come your soft skill right how how
12:45
good you are actually I mean communicate uh with others right so that actually I
12:50
mean will be judged uh immediately next is like how good leader actually I mean
12:56
you are are you actually I mean a leader right now or you are having a potential
13:02
to become a leader actually in the future because any organization that actually look for they
13:10
look for the leaders actually I mean leaders may not actually I mean go all the way up but whatever ex work has been
13:17
given to them they command that work actually right and when they command the work they are able to deliver that with
13:24
the ownership so there are quite a few things that actually you have to do it
13:32
uh soft skills as I mentioned plus networking actually I mean plays a biggest role actually in any any any any
13:40
uh professional career actually absolutely uh you have to have a very
13:47
strong starting from your college till the
13:55
time at a various stage when you are at different uh uh situations you can go
14:02
actually I mean to your subordinate your seniors your Juniors and uh you can get
14:10
lot of help from from them of course you know I see that you know the people they
14:16
think uh meeting the topnotch people is the networking no a networking is
14:21
something where you are meeting people from you know the top to bottom bottom to top and everywhere so even if that
14:29
person is not from your domain or not from your technology or not from your industry that is again I consider this
14:37
as a networking tool yeah I would like to add B very quickly one thing here uh so when you
14:44
actually me work in a small organization the uh the company company networking is
14:50
like uh not needed a lot actually because the projects are small actually right but when when I actually worked on
14:57
the dell.com there there was like d.com is being supported by 120 products itself
15:05
actually I mean there were like0 Pro projects or product behind d.com and
15:10
there were around 60 teams different team who were managing upstream and
15:16
downstream so you have to have a networking within a company in order to get your work done absolutely absolutely
15:24
yeah all right so I think you know we got up uh
15:30
questions can you also help our audiences I think you know these audiences are essentially the colleges
15:37
students any suggestions any advice would you like to give them so that you
15:43
know if near future if they get failure or maybe how they can you know get
15:51
success yes so uh so I have actually basar I have a slide to present that
15:58
that I think we will cover but uh just to answer actually I mean uh this
16:04
question so first you have to actually been look at it that you have to
16:10
actually root cause of your failure actually right there are certain times
16:16
there are things which are not in your control right let's say that uh you are
16:23
in join join an organization and when you join an organization you EX in the
16:28
uh go there because you want to walk over there right but let's say that after like few months there is no
16:35
project right so uh you you are actually at a bench and someone actually
16:42
will come and say that okay since we are not getting the project then you are actually you have to leave actually that
16:50
is not actually in your control fully right so you have to analyze the root
16:55
cause if things are actually in your control you have to actually uh very
17:00
carefully analyze it work upon it make a make a like a task list work upon it if
17:08
things are actually I mean uh not in your control then actually I mean take it that okay uh I have to mean take this
17:16
as like feedback that it happens actually in this organization this
17:22
industry and prepare yourself and move on actually to the next one
17:29
of course of course 100% 100% so even though U you know as I said before
17:37
reviewing revie yourself is one of the key to you know get success so you can
17:43
improve yourself uh okay all right I as you said that you have a slide to share
17:50
if you can go ahead and share those that will be
17:57
helpful okay uh so basar can you see the slide I can see yes I can see okay so I
18:04
just prepared like few slides uh so so introduction is like to
18:11
successfully transition from campus to cor press uh life additional steps must
18:17
be taken to enhance so I have prepared actually this slide considering that uh there will be like students uh who are
18:25
actually I mean about to leave the leave the college and uh they will be like uh
18:30
going for internship or uh uh they will be going into the corporate world so
18:36
before actually me they go into the internship corporate bo uh what should have been actually mean they doing it or
18:44
what they can examine do it if they are still in the
18:50
college okay uh so uh from my perspective I see actually I mean these
18:57
are the five five areas actually where uh on a like a very high level these are
19:02
the five areas where actually everyone has to every student has to work while
19:10
they are into the college so they have to actually focus on learning and keep learning as basar
19:17
you have mentioned that uh it's a learning and then keep learning thing
19:23
actually happens uh you have to build uh you have to keep yourself motivated all the time
19:30
you have to keep yourself motivated uh I will actually mention that how actually you will do it uh uh
19:38
as I mentioned that you have to build strong Network so uh how it will help
19:44
and how you can build the network uh I think we'll talk about that uh be ready
19:50
for industry uh so when we are actually in a college we actually learn lot of
19:56
actually lot of sub objects and lot of practical things we do it but there are
20:02
certain additional if you do it certain additional things then we will be like industry ready what actually industry
20:09
aspects and what actually you learn there is a slight Gap actually I mean into it if you fulfill that Gap while
20:17
being into the uh College itself then I think you are almost ready to be
20:23
deployed in industry and uh last is a make fi here as
20:30
l so I have actually explained a little bit more about uh these things uh
20:38
so when we are actually learning in a college uh or learn generally uh try to
20:45
understand the concept uh behind them uh if you if you learn try to
20:53
gamify your learning like you if you are living a CL with few friends
20:59
s if you uh uh subordinate while examin in college you can gfy your learning and
21:06
that actually will help you a lot uh uh in order to learn and make learning as a
21:13
fun uh stay always curious uh so if you are curious then uh your learning X will
21:22
become for more effective uh passionate uh definitely if
21:29
you have actually selected that uh uh tra then you have you should be
21:34
passionate about that and I can tell you that I think most of the people are here
21:40
most of the students are here for the IT industry so it industry is like uh one
21:46
of the industry which is like Dev deviz
21:52
everything uh in this world uh make habit of uh learning uh
22:00
because technology changes every few years so you have to actually mean make
22:06
habit make that habit while you are into the college itself actually so I have
22:12
seen actually I mean the whole evalution of Microsoft so uh like there was actually
22:20
I mean internet started in Ian came in the 1993 94 so uh I have used the
22:26
internet for the first time in 1995 Google came actually I mean in uh I
22:33
think uh 99 or 2000 the Google came that time so things changed uh every few
22:41
years technology changes in the IT industry you have to actually make sure that you have a habit to learn about
22:48
those technology uh second is a keep yourself motivated uh so how you will actually I
22:56
mean motivate yourself you have to have a clear goal there could be a shorter
23:03
goals there could be a larger goal as I said like uh when I was young I I I I
23:09
dreamed about it that I want to go to the San Francisco because I I I I I
23:15
learned that into the general knowledge book that there is a uh city city of
23:21
Golden Gate named San Francisco and I want to go over
23:26
there and I think I was lucky enough that uh the first city that I went I
23:31
went to the San Francisco uh celebrate goal success so
23:38
whatever actually mean goals you have created uh you have to I mean celebrate
23:44
them whatever way uh uh it gives you like happiness you have to celebrate
23:50
that uh you have to develop a growth mindset what does this mean that uh uh
23:59
if you have to motivate yourself it means that uh you have to set uh that
24:06
how you will grow actually in your life so in college also you are
24:13
actually mean learning but you're living your life so you have to have a growth
24:18
mindset over there uh you can join communities I think a lot of colleges
24:25
has good communities you can join there and that also ex some time give a
24:30
happiness and motivates uh some of the bud were like
24:36
stay organized and avoid one out so lot of actually students I have seen that uh
24:45
they are very laborious I would say that it is good to be a laborious but you
24:51
have to have a smart thinking as well and uh you have to welcome for the
24:58
feedback so lot of time actually we have seen that we get demotivated because
25:05
someone actually said something wrong about us if someone said wrong about us
25:10
then it is not always that he has a wrong intention there could be a
25:16
possibility that certain times there will be a wrong intention but most of the time it is like uh we have to take
25:23
that feedback and we have to analyze ourself and uh and and move forward from
25:30
there uh uh build strong Network I think we already talked about it uh so a lot
25:39
of time actually uh it helps uh uh uh to uh grab the good jobs because uh aloes
25:47
comes back to uh your college and if you have like good networking then uh there
25:54
is opportunity that you can grab the good jobs uh uh they can they can help you
26:01
actually me on the mentorship and uh they can do the guidance uh when you actually start your business and
26:08
startups then uh networking actually plays the biggest role because uh uh
26:14
even uh you have a product you have to have a you have a website but you have
26:19
to actually me tell a lot of people about your product and they they can actually I mean for the first customer
26:27
there will be someone actually I mean who is known to you actually and he will be part of the network who will be using
26:34
that product and then he will be circulating everything good about that
26:39
product in this world uh there are difficult time uh
26:46
where you need XM in that support system so I can tell that uh when I lost my job
26:53
in Us in 2001 and I came back so one of my like a mentor he helped me and uh he
27:03
helped me to actually join an organization where he was me uh CTO so
27:11
uh difficult time networking helps uh how to build a network uh uh I
27:19
think uh everyone knows about it I just I will reiterate uh you have to attend events
27:26
uh workshops and meetups and when you actually go there make a connections actually I mean it is not that you go
27:33
there and just cut out from there make a connection keep that connection alive uh
27:40
alive for a longer longer period uh use LinkedIn actively I think LinkedIn is
27:47
like best place right now and I think I would say that she is also like one of
27:54
the uh platform where X you can engage with lot of good
28:01
people uh help others in your network if you help others in your network you will
28:07
get the help back from them uh I think very important be ready
28:13
for industry so we all we all know that uh we learn Technologies even actually
28:19
we are doing our subjects study we also start learning uh about Salesforce
28:25
learning about net month stack all actually we are learning these days uh I
28:32
think what we are not learning actually in college is the process actually I the
28:38
the software development life cycle agile uh how actually me it works and
28:44
how it get implemented in a corporate world actually that is very important to learn actually uh that that is the gap
28:51
that I see right now people are sorry students are very good uh in technology
28:57
but uh it takes like few months before actually we can fully employ them in
29:06
them in our organization and that is because uh uh the processes that
29:12
actually me needed for any organization small to big uh you have to follow
29:18
certain processes and those processes you can have a like awareness you can
29:23
have like bit of practice actually I mean uh within College itself
29:28
and that actually will help you a lot when you are actually uh coming to the corporate world uh develop soft skills
29:36
as uh I already mentioned previously uh Stay Stay updated with the uh
29:43
industry uh start networking and uh build leadership leadership is like one
29:49
of the like key skill actually if you have like leadership quality good
29:55
communication I think uh it it will help help you actually get into the corporate world but when you actually grow from 5
30:03
years to 10 year down the line who will actually go to the letter uh that will be the that will be decided by the
30:10
communication and Leadership uh make failure as learning
30:15
uh I think we talked about it uh uh change your perspective on failure that
30:21
it happens because of myself my my fault or it happened because of uh things
30:28
which I cannot control it uh analyze what went wrong uh develop a growth
30:35
mindset adapt and improve uh if if it was because of you then uh adapt and
30:42
improve take action make a goal move forward and uh seek uh mentorship and
30:49
guidance from your network stay positive and keep uh keep trying uh I think uh that's it basar
30:57
from site it's already like 801 right now yeah yeah this is absolute we are on
31:03
the time and in fact I really love this entire um deck which has the essential
31:10
points uh since you know I went through with the same Journey you know I can related and I can say that you know
31:16
these are 100% absolute required points to be covered up if you are building your profile since you know um your
31:24
college um era you will be you you will be in the ladder you will actually uh
31:30
growing in your career not only the skills but uh yes absolutely the
31:36
networking and the other part which is you know open up for the growth mindset
31:42
and be the industry ready the these are essential points because I see the lot
31:49
of people the students when they join any organization they are taking another
31:54
three to six months to adopt themselves and you know um gel with the mats and the in the
32:02
corporate Culture The Learning in the agile how the project works and everything but if they will start from
32:08
there of course you know that will be beneficial for the industries all right so I think uh um
32:16
although we are over time but I'll open up a poll if any questions are coming
32:22
from the audiences we can spend either one or two minutes and we can take those
32:27
questions um otherwise we we can you know wrap this show let's wait for another one minute
32:35
uh do do we have any comments or questions to be
32:46
shared all right hello Sak
32:52
yeah all right all right so uh it looks like you know we all are done and over
32:59
the time too uh I'll be thanking you ano you spare you spend your time you spare
33:05
some time with us and you shared your insights uh to the students and
33:11
audiences uh hope this that will be definitely helpful for them so all the audiences um thank you everyone for
33:19
joining the show from wherever you are and uh we will will we will having the
33:25
same show once again uh after alternate week all right with
33:32
that said we'll see you soon thank you thank you [Music]
