0:06
What's good, Detroit Sports Nation? I am Eric Vincent, your host here at the DSN News Desch
0:15
Thank you for being here. We appreciate your time and support because there is so much good news to talk about after tonight
0:23
After what we saw for the Detroit Piscence, there is so much good news to talk about with what we see
0:29
at LCA tonight, a 131, 125 overtime win, capped off against the Dallas Mavericks
0:39
In a game that honestly could have gone either way. There were so many stretches and swings
0:44
and a lot of ups and downs from the pistons, a lot of moments where it kind of looked like
0:49
they were teetering and maybe looking at a loss. And they were able to withstand a lot of adversity
0:55
A lot of challenges, a lot of things that were going against them
0:59
to go through and pull out a tough, much earned overtime victory tonight
1:05
You had to withstand a 35, 10 to 5 performance by one of the best basketball players in the world in Luca Donchish
1:12
You had to survive a 26 point performance from Tim Hardaway, Jr
1:17
A 25 point performance by Christian Wood in a revenge game against the pistons off the bench
1:23
We shot 10 of 13 and was dunking on everybody and really played as motivated as we've seen in a long time
1:29
And you were able to withstand all of that for one of the most impressive stories of the season for the Pistons with a breakout performance that we, at least let me not say we, that I was not expecting in any way, shape, profession
1:47
Killian Hayes, who is this man? Who has Killian Hayes turned into
1:53
I don't know what I'm seeing with this man right now, but I am loving every single
1:59
bit of it. I told y'all, whatever he's doing, whatever new regimen he's doing to get himself
2:05
ready for games now that's got him in this new attack mode, he needs to do it all the time
2:12
Whatever socks he's wearing, whatever pregame meal he's rocking, whatever, whatever music he's
2:19
listening to, I don't care what his pregame routines are. He needs to stick in this form
2:25
because my goodness is it so fun as the Killian Hayes play this way
2:30
22 points, uh, eight dimes, four rebounds, 10 and 13 from the field
2:37
two and four from the long line, eight clutch points in overtime
2:41
and he had the shots that sealed off and put the game
2:45
out of position and out of reach for the Mavericks. Who has Killian Hayes burned into, man
2:52
This has been so cool to watch because, Given the adversity of the Detroit Pistons with injuries, all the losing they've been through, the roster confusion, a lot of the things that they had been dealing with this season in terms of adversity, nobody needed a game like this more than Killian Hayes
3:11
You could argue he's of all the pieces that are developing right now with Cade out with, you know, Jade Ivy, you know, playing but still kind of hurt and still kind of ramping back up to heal from his knee injury
3:22
you really can make the case that Killian is the most important piston to watch moving forward this season
3:29
because what he's doing right now has been absolutely sensational and not even just the piston adversity
3:35
I talked about all the stuff that the pittons have had to deal with all the criticism that Killian has had to deal with
3:40
all of the demons that he may be dealing with in his own head, maybe self-doubt, confidence questions
3:46
like all these things could be a factor for him for what we seen through the two years plus in his career This is his third season and we never seen Killian play this consistent and this well
4:00
And I'll own it because a lot of the criticism came from me as well. I wasn't doubting him
4:04
I'm not saying that Killian is a bust. I never said he was, you know, he was hopeless
4:09
But we wanted to see more from Killian. We wouldn't see consistency
4:13
It didn't even have to be games like this. Again, this is arguably the best game he's played
4:18
since he's joined the NBA. And it's not going to take games like this to always validate that Killian has arrived
4:26
But if these are the performances we're getting, oh, that's another dove for Troy Weaver
4:32
These are the moments that you can sit in and be so proud of what Killian Hayes has gone through
4:39
He's, again, not even just the criticism of his game. Normally for young players, they're judged on the bar of other players in the
4:48
their draft class, other young guards, and when you look at what Tyrese Halliburton is doing
4:54
and when you see Lamello playing how he's played over three years, you sit up and wait and
5:00
wonder like, God, what is, are we getting this from Killian? Like, what's the deal? Come on. You see
5:05
everybody else playing this way? When's he going to play this way? I'm at the point where I believe
5:10
it's unfair to judge Killian Hayes based on what his draft class is doing. I don't care of
5:16
Killian ever becomes an all-star. I don't care if he ever matches what Tyrese Halliburton is doing
5:22
He does not need to be compared or measured to what they're doing
5:27
He needs to be measured on what the Pistons need. And he's giving you that
5:33
He's finding his offensive rhythm. He's finding that mid-range game. I've never seen him so comfortable on a catch and shoot three of my life
5:41
He's setting with no worries. He don't look stressed. He's not hesitating
5:46
he is going right up in shooting whatever he's developing Seneke Bay needs some of because he seems like he's doubting himself
5:55
we'll talk about Seneke another night this tonight to be positive Killion Hayes looks like I'm not going to say he has
6:01
it looks like he might finally be turning the corner and again considering with no Kuttingham
6:09
considering jane ivy just coming back from injury who played a pretty good game tonight 16 points off the bench
6:15
six dimes, three rebounds, a lot of nice highlight plays. Considering where the pistons are, and even when we talk about injuries, another one today
6:25
Isaiah Livers, it looks like his shoulder came out in the first quarter. Really hope everything's okay with him
6:30
But considering everything that this piston team has had to deal with and endure in terms of adversity
6:36
nobody needed a moment like this more than Killian Hayes. You can see it with his teammates on the bench
6:43
They were so excited to hype him up. So excited to show him the love he deserved
6:47
And this is all, all warranted for Killian Hayes. He's earned all this love and respect for today
6:53
If this keeps rolling, you have your maybe six man of the
7:00
You maybe have your rotational third guard that you can play in lineups with Jaden and Kay together
7:06
where they've all showed that they play well and just fine together, especially Killian is now developing the ability to play catch and shoot basketball
7:15
If he has that doubt consistently the way he did tonight, the future is going to be bright for this team
7:22
especially for Killian Hayes. So proud of you, young man. Keep it going, Killian
7:26
I love what I've seen, man. Whatever you're doing, keep it rolling
7:31
We love it. Another day we've got to talk about, Boyan Bogdanovich, 30 points for him
7:37
led the team 10 of 14 shooting, 5 of 6 from 3 5 of 6 from the free throw line and another very impressive and hopeful game by Bogey My thing is this with Bojan Bogdanovich though
7:53
I love what he's doing and it's very, very promising for what the future should hold for him and the Detroit Pistons
8:02
And what I mean by that is when he's flipped to a contender for a first round pick
8:08
that has to be the game play at this point for the Pistons
8:13
I'm not I'm not hating a Bogey at all. I think he's a good player
8:17
I'm not super sure that he's the long-term solution to keep at the three or the four
8:23
for this Piston team. The Pistons have a lot of rental deals right now
8:28
They have, I guess you can say at this point, Bogie is still on a rental deal
8:32
He signed the extension, but considering the money attached to his three-year deal
8:37
it's still very tradable. It's still very attractive to contending teams if they wanted to reach out to him by the trade deadline
8:47
His game style, his veteran savvy, his ability to shoot and his ability to play really within any lineups and play multiple different roles will make him attractive for contenders
9:00
I don't think his game is suitable for a team like the Pistons, especially considering an opportunity where
9:07
You still need more help in the front court. You still kind of need a surefire book in power four that you can slide in
9:16
Because right now you don't have that. You have a bunch of guys that rotationally play in that position with Marvin Bagley
9:23
Isaiah Stewart, and Bogie. They all slide in and play the four
9:26
Even Isaiah Livers when he's playing. That's not necessarily, to me, penciled in for their future
9:33
You're going to need, I think, a different element type of player. because the way Bogie plays, he's playing a lot of times it seems like he's playing for himself
9:44
He's going out there getting his shots. He's driving, dribbling a lot, really looking for ISO moments, especially in the clutch
9:51
It seems like that's the Pistons go-to play of the clutch. Just give Bogie the ball and clear out, let him get a shot up
9:57
He's a good free throw shooter. So, again, there's some intelligence behind it
10:02
But if you're of the mindset of a young team where you're trying to
10:07
develop young talent, he can't be the focal point of your closing drives in the fourth quarter
10:15
That he can't be leading fast breaks in overtime to, you know, set up your team for, you know, shots and set up, like, that's not their game
10:24
I'd much rather be seeing that in Jay, Knive's hands. I much rather see that in Cudely's head
10:28
Even if it's Seneke Bay, who's working on his dribbling, I'd much rather be seeing that
10:32
I don't love the play style of bogey on a young rebuilding team
10:39
He's going to fit perfectly on a team like Milwaukee. He fit perfectly fine on a team, even if he was somewhere like Denver
10:47
Like, I don't know, like a perfect trade package scenario to get for Boyal Baghdadavit's your return
10:53
But seeing how he's playing right now, seeing the value that he brings to the pistons is going to serve far better for a team like that
11:02
a contender in the NBA. It's still suitable. I don't care about the three-year extension that he's on now
11:09
It's still possible that you can flip him. And it's very Jeremy Grant-esque to an extent
11:15
Now, a lot of people are, we see the dominance of Jeremy Grant how well he's playing
11:19
And I love how well he's playing right now. But to me, I don't lose any sleep over the Jeremy Grant trade
11:25
because the potential of Jalen Duren for this team makes it worth it
11:31
I believe Jayla Durd has star potential top 10 center potential maybe even five if he develops correctly and is used correctly if you can use the value of the return that you get for a veteran
11:46
you're not supposed to be losing sleep when they're gone. Even if they're playing well
11:51
I'm not going to feel the same way about Boyan Bogdanovich if he's traded as well
11:56
I'm not going to sit here and freak out about Bogi if he's traded off somewhere else. It is lighting it up for 30 point nights
12:02
I don't care because you're doing it where you're getting a draft pick back
12:06
hopefully a first, a high first, and a stacked draft class, a stacked draft class from top to bottom
12:13
where Troy Weaver has showed that he could get gyms at any point during the draft
12:18
whether it's high, the middle, at lows, it doesn't matter. He's shown the ability to find high value talent
12:25
to bring in and mesh with this young roster. And you still need that with this team
12:31
Again, there's a lot of expiring deals. Like, at this point, bogey's not an expiring deal it's a tradable deal but it's not expiring you have an alec burkes you still
12:40
have nerlands no well those are the kind of deals that will probably be sought after the trade market
12:44
to me i'd rather keep a guy like alec burks but still deal somebody like boiard because i feel like his
12:52
value is going to be higher i think he the value he brings to the front court is good but i still think
12:59
the pistons are going to play better with somebody else outside of boion by gnavich and i think that
13:05
return is possible in the draft, especially considering if the pistons are already getting their
13:10
old high draft pick with their record, if they're losing a lot, and having an extra one again
13:15
like they got in this draft with Jaden Ivy and Jalen Dern. I really hope they're setting up for that exact same return because Bogie is playing the ball
13:25
of his life right now. I am absolutely expecting a deal to get done at some point and I think it's going to be worth it
13:33
I think it's absolutely going to be worth it. Again, I ain't losing no sleep about Jeremy Grant
13:37
I'm happy with what we got in Jalen Dern. I think he's a star in the making
13:42
and I think you have a chance of getting great value back, just like you did out of that trade with Jeremy Grant and Dern
13:49
You can get the exact same thing with Bogie. So if he is flipped at the deadline
13:53
we're not going to lose no sleep and freak out about it. We're going to be happy and we're going to celebrate
13:57
And we go celebrate this win too, because the Pistons needed this
14:02
They needed this off of the debacle of an L they had against the Nix
14:06
who they allowed 140 points to in regulation to get this kind of overtime win
14:12
against the contender, again, with one of the best players in all the world
14:16
This is a way that you can hang your hat on. And I really hope the Pinsons are celebrating accordingly in the locker room
14:21
