Genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda: The resistance of Nyamirambo’s Muslim Community

During the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis, the Muslim neighbourhood of Nyamirambo in Kigali stood out for its courage. Guided by their faith and the calls of their religious leaders, a lot of Rwandan Muslims rejected the call to kill, and many even risked their lives to save others. A little-known story, now officially recognised by the Rwandan government, and lasting source of pride for the community.
