0:00
hey everyone and welcome back to
0:01
gardening with Ben with this week's tour
0:04
video and yeah we've done absolutely
0:07
loads of stuff down here this week we're
0:09
not doing a weekly blog as I've done a
0:12
lot of work but not enough really to
0:14
show you so I'm going to pop it into
0:16
this video so we'll show you what we've
0:17
got up to down at the allotment this
0:19
week so sit back relax and enjoy today's
0:43
so welcome back to today's episode so
0:47
yes we have had a busy weekend down here
0:50
at the alotment this week it's been
0:51
absolutely gorgeous the weather is
0:54
fantastic you wouldn't think it's
0:55
November we've not had a frost yet and
0:58
it's absolutely gorgeous and hence
1:01
probably why a lot of the leaves are
1:02
still on the trees and stuff like that
1:05
and yeah my fruit trees are still not
1:07
shedding the leaves yet so we've still
1:10
got a frost to come and start the winter
1:13
work really so hopefully we do get the
1:16
frost because we need it to split the
1:18
garlic bulbs but yeah we have done loads
1:20
down here at the alotment this week so
1:22
I'm going to give you a tour of the plot
1:24
show you what's growing and what's not
1:26
growing and obviously we've not got the
1:28
Christmas potatoes to show you because
1:30
we harvested them yesterday if you've
1:32
not seen that video go back and have a
1:34
look and you'll see all the video uh all
1:36
the potatoes that we harvested down at
1:39
the allotment so let's have a look
1:41
around and see what's going on so as
1:45
always we'll start at the front of the
1:46
plot show you the front and work his way
1:49
around the alotment and show you how
1:51
well is coming on this Autumn
1:54
time so we're down at the front of the
1:57
plot We Ain't Got No Berries to pull off
1:58
as fuches this week as one job that we
2:00
usually do as we do this t uh tour video
2:03
but yeah hopefully the Heather starts
2:04
coming out it's getting more and more
2:06
flowers on it and buds you can see them
2:08
all coming along pretty nicely now so
2:12
hopefully we'll get lots of Heather
2:14
coming out pretty soon but yeah the
2:16
Futures are still full of buds it's
2:19
amazing like I say we've not had a frost
2:21
yet so things are still flowering but
2:28
fantastic we've got lots and lots of
2:31
flowers on the Futures looking
2:33
absolutely amazing down here on the
2:36
arment one thing my dad's done this week
2:38
as well he's been an absolute Legend my
2:41
dad he's done some work in my shed and
2:43
he's fixed my host pipe through into the
2:45
shed to save me having to put it through
2:47
the top of the shed which it were before
2:50
so yeah that's one job that he's doing
2:53
me but now we're on to the front of the
2:56
plot and look at these they're still
2:58
flowering really nice these
3:00
climbing mes I keep dead adding them but
3:04
yeah absolutely gorgeous we've got loads
3:06
of Bus St on them which is strange for
3:08
this time of year certainly
3:12
is we've got all the spring bulbs
3:14
popping through you can see them all
3:16
coming through which is good a good sign
3:20
there should be all spring bulbs in this
3:21
side as well fingers cross the all come
3:24
through we had some tulips in there at
3:26
one point I don't know if they'll come
3:28
back or not but we've got his Cherry
3:31
bush in there as well we've been filling
3:34
those feeders up keeping them happy
3:37
keeping the birds happy and Mr squirrel
3:40
as he's pinching loads of it but
3:45
yeah like I said my cooking apple tree
3:48
is not dropping its leaves yet it's
3:50
still full of leaves Su are turning
3:54
yeah it's still full of
3:58
leaves but yeah we got us bird feeders
4:06
feses these ones are dying back a
4:10
bit so yeah these ones are hibernating
4:14
hopefully for winter hopefully they'll
4:15
come back in flow and buds next year
4:20
that's a Salvia which we Cho back I
4:23
don't know if I've done M or not but
4:24
I've chopped it all back hopefully it'll
4:27
come back next year we'll soon see
4:31
but yeah we've got lots and lots of
4:34
around all of this is full of spring
4:36
bulbs absolutely loads in there so
4:39
hopefully we get a nice display again
4:41
this year probably won't be as best as
4:43
it was last year but we'll see we'll see
4:47
on this is my Logan ber it's going
4:50
absolutely wild it's getting longer
4:52
every week hopefully we'll get loads of
4:54
loganberries next year off it fingers
4:56
crossed but yeah um I'm planning on
5:00
lifting all that up and doing it over
5:03
top of there so it's going to be higher
5:07
so we'll see how we get on with doing
5:08
that that's one job on his list what
5:13
done so we're now in the shed we have
5:16
pinched back all our spring sweet peas
5:20
not spring onions sweet peas uh that
5:22
will be coming in another video so stay
5:24
tuned for that and we'll show you how we
5:27
did it all we've also poted up as drain
5:30
as well brought them in out of the
5:32
winter and into the greenhouse over
5:34
winter again another video coming for
5:37
that so you'll see all that but yeah my
5:40
dad's cleared all my old desk qu area
5:44
away I've got a wheelie bin in here
5:48
folded with water to keep me going
5:50
through winter because they turned the
5:52
water off at of alotment site over the
5:54
winter time so yeah keep some water in
5:57
there until they turn it off
6:02
but yeah look at his loopings those
6:04
loopings are doing well we grew them
6:06
from seed so I hopefully we'll have some
6:08
nice flowers on them next year and we've
6:10
got some other flowers which I've not
6:12
labeled up so I can't
6:14
remember but yeah we've pinched them
6:16
ones out as well them sweet peas so
6:20
that we've also potted up all of
6:24
salvia uh another video will be coming
6:26
for that but yeah we're potting them all
6:28
up these are all cuting from on that one
6:29
that I chopped back outside so if it
6:32
does die back we have some more plants
6:35
but look at how many we've got we've got
6:37
20 plants so hopefully we'll have lots
6:40
and lots of color from the saler next
6:44
allotment hey everyone it's gardening
6:46
with Ben here a short little advert in
6:48
between the video that you are watching
6:51
just a reminder to keep listening to my
6:53
podcasts available on Spotify Amazon
6:57
Alexa Apple anywhere you can listen to
7:00
podcasts on just search for gardening
7:02
with Ben and you will find lots of new
7:05
episodes posted on a regular basis for
7:07
you to listen to so if you're not
7:09
listening to my podcast go and have a
7:10
listen to them and make sure you give
7:12
them a follow as well let's get back to
7:16
episode back outside now we've got a new
7:19
bird feeder up which is going down
7:21
really well the sew blocks the loving
7:23
that whether that's this uh squirrel or
7:26
whether that's the bird I don't know but
7:29
yeah we've got so much to do outside
7:32
around this area we've got all down that
7:34
side to clear out and tidy up I don't
7:37
know if we've got any carrots in there
7:38
they're looking good but we might have
7:40
some we'll have to see we'll have to do
7:42
a reveal on them ones like we did with
7:44
potatoes see if we've been successful or
7:46
not cuz I've never managed to grow a
7:49
carrot so we'll have to see if we've
7:51
actually got some carrots in there
7:52
that'll be a fun video to watch and I
7:55
will but yeah I'll show you whether
7:57
we've had a success or failure like it
7:59
I'm an honest Gardener I'll show you
8:01
everything of what it's looking like but
8:03
yeah we got all this to clear out all
8:05
them pots to tidy up and yeah all the
8:08
strawberries are taking while which we
8:09
planted which is good hopefully we get
8:12
them all growing strawberries next
8:14
year this is our Great Vine which is
8:17
going mad absolutely mad we've got a
8:20
blackbery as well which is growing
8:22
across this plot we're going to pull
8:23
that back over and put that down the
8:25
fence in down the side but yeah I just
8:28
po that up for the T time being uh to
8:31
stop it from getting broken so that'll
8:33
be a job and enough pulling that back
8:35
over but look at these absolute
8:37
beautiful colors of the Great Vine
8:40
absolutely gorgeous red can't believe
8:43
it so nice in all aut them and all
8:46
colors but yeah like I said we've got
8:49
all the edging to clear out but we've
8:52
got so many strawberry plants in this
8:53
year absolutely Lads we've planted so
8:56
many out so fingers crossed we do have a
8:59
good CR drop next year down at the
9:06
allotment we' got another climbing rose
9:08
that's still flowering starting to die
9:11
off a bit them ones now looking a bit
9:13
bad but yeah we've been tidying us paths
9:17
out next week's job which is going to be
9:22
is going to be clearing out all them
9:25
brambles down that side of the plot I'm
9:29
not going to be to get them out I'll
9:30
just prune them all back and it usually
9:32
lasts year before I do it again the year
9:34
after but yeah I'll prune all them back
9:37
which is going to be a job and half but
9:39
yeah look the rhubarb's growing that
9:41
shows how warm it still is rhubarb
9:43
shouldn't be growing now it should be
9:46
sleep but yeah we'll get all the leaves
9:49
up as well because we don't want to
9:51
leave them around cuz that can spread
9:52
disease and stuff like that so we'll get
9:56
out but yeah and then we're going to
9:58
have to clear clear All That Bind weed
10:00
off that Arch I think that Arch is going
10:02
to come out this year it's had
10:10
it we've got the shots in they' have not
10:12
started growing yet but if you think
10:15
about it we've not had no rain so that's
10:17
probably why they've not started so we
10:18
might have to start watering them if
10:20
it's not going to rain we've not had no
10:22
rain for ages we got a beetroot still
10:25
some beetroot in we'll be harvesting
10:28
that later on probably when it just
10:30
starts to get cold let them keep growing
10:32
for the time being no harm in
10:36
that there garlic that's doing well it's
10:41
good so hopefully we'll get a lot of
10:44
garlic next year down at the
10:47
allotment and then we've got as onions
10:50
again they've not started growing yet
10:52
but like I said we've not had no rain so
10:53
I'm going to have to start watering them
10:55
I think at this rate if we're not going
10:59
but yeah my plot is looking absolutely
11:02
tons better I've been sorting out some
11:04
of the paths today sweeping them that's
11:07
the best thing about having Paving you
11:09
can just sweep them all
11:10
clear whereas that are is wood chip and
11:13
black plastic so that's a bit more of a
11:16
pain but yeah we'll get it sorted
11:19
eventually it'll all be paved that's the
11:20
plan just keep buying some more Paving
11:23
to DS every year so this weekend's job
11:26
what we've been up to what we have had
11:28
would have had in as blog is we're been
11:30
tidying out this area now I built this
11:32
area a few years ago and I've never
11:34
really done much with it yet uh but next
11:38
year's main task we're going to make
11:41
this look good we're going to have a
11:42
nice new area which we're going to spend
11:44
a bit of money on and improve and plant
11:47
some nice flowers along this front bit
11:50
have some nice herb beds up here have
11:54
plenty of flowers growing and fingers
11:57
crossed it will look nice that's the
11:59
plan anyway and then I'll do same on
12:01
that bit there of some flowers there but
12:03
yeah have this in a nice flower and wild
12:07
herb area so hopefully it'll look pretty
12:13
good but yeah that's the plot looks
12:18
absolutely fantastic I'm impressed with
12:19
how much I've got done you can't say
12:22
I've not done anything because I
12:24
certainly have done been working my hot
12:26
socks off getting it all cleared and
12:28
tided ready for next year but yeah I'm
12:31
so happy we are it's all come
12:33
on but yeah we have certainly had a
12:36
fantastic week down at the alotment and
12:39
as you can see it's coming on really
12:41
really well this is the perfect time to
12:43
do all this work and like I said the
12:45
weather's been fantastic so make the
12:47
most of it while it is decent who knows
12:50
what Winter's going to be like it could
12:52
be snowing for months it could be Frosty
12:54
and hard for ages and you won't be able
12:57
to dig any beds over but yeah make the
12:59
most of it get them Gardens and
13:01
allotments tidied up get them all in
13:03
ship shape as the more you do now the
13:05
less you have to do in Spring time when
13:07
it comes to sewing all your seeds which
13:09
will take up all your time sewing seeds
13:11
transplanting them keeping them watered
13:13
and stuff like that so this is the
13:15
perfect time to get everything ship
13:17
shape and ready for next year like I
13:20
said in my earlier in my video if you've
13:21
not listened to my podcast go and listen
13:23
to my podcast as I'm putting new
13:25
episodes out there every single day at
13:27
the moment and I'm enjoyed doing them
13:29
and if you're not following us do give
13:31
us a follow give us a like leave a
13:33
comment below as well as it helps push
13:36
the video out so until next time
13:39
everyone remember keep smiling keep
13:41
shining and keep gardening with B
