Hello and welcome to Prague riverside or as we call it Naplavka. Unfortunately many people think
0:06
that we have only one riverside in Prague. Well no, we have many because the river goes through the
0:12
entire city and there are many other cool places where you can chill and hang around by the river
0:18
so we're going to show you those places today and many of them are much better than this spot
0:30
And the first riverside we're going to show you today that we actually like a lot with Hamza is just across the river over there on the Smikov part
0:42
This riverside on the left side of the river may not be as famous as its sister over there, but it doesn't mean it's any worse
0:50
In many cases, it's actually much better. It's less crowded. It's more compact
0:54
It also has a great view of the castle, of the other castle, the Shehrat
0:58
And all the spaces here were recently reconstructed and turned into some cool spaces like many coffee places, pups, restaurant, and even a library where inside is actually a workshop
1:10
So you can create some things, for example, with your kits, with tools that they will let you
1:16
But to be fair, and not only praise this riverside, there are even things that I believe do not
1:24
belong here, like this gigantic billboard on the river obstructing the view
1:35
Before we continue and show you more cool riverside places, we would like to show you
1:40
something cool that we have here, and that's the sponsor of today's video, which is a Zen
1:44
shopping cart that looks really cool and works really cool. What it does for you is, for example
1:49
if you pay in any of these places, you can simply pay, but if you buy something like electronics
1:54
it will automatically extend your warranty for one year. Also, if you're watching our show
2:00
most likely you are a traveler like us, and if you use booking.com to get a hotel or a hostel
2:05
with this card, you'll get 4% cash back. Also, Zen includes something called a Zen Care
2:11
and if you make a transaction and something's wrong with the product, it's faulty or something's wrong with the transaction
2:17
they will take care of it and they will solve the issue for you The card is for free the service is for free also for 30 days and if you use our code HonestGuideZen it will extend the service to be for free for another 90 days
2:31
so in total you get 120 days for free so you can try it for yourself and see if you like it or not
2:38
We love how it looks by the way. So thank you Zen for partnering with us on this video and right now
2:43
I'm going to find out in one of these coffee places right there if Honza has some money on
2:47
his cart. Can I do that, Honza? All right, let's go continue with the video
3:01
One of the forgotten riversides is definitely this part. Partially, it's a parking lot for cars
3:08
You can also feed the swans, but you have one of the coolest views of the dancing house
3:12
which is one of the most popular buildings in Prague. And also, see that tower
3:18
That is the tower that is leaning the most in Prague, according to some 0.5 meters
3:29
This leaning tower that I've mentioned is actually attached to the Gallery Manis, as you can see
3:34
And you can actually walk through it onto the island, where there's other places where you can chill by the river
3:42
Here on the island, not only you get a view of the beautiful buildings that are on the
3:51
riverside, but you also get a kid's playground. There's a cool restaurant that has very reasonably priced lunch menus
3:58
And finally, you can sit on this little wall and enjoy the view of the Prague Castle as
4:02
your kids are playing and you are filled up with the food. Hey
4:06
not only you get the view of the Prague castle here but also you can see other two Prague islands
4:13
the one in the middle Shooters Island and the kids island over there with a huge
4:17
playground for kids believe it or not there was actually a project that was supposed to connect
4:23
all these islands with pedestrian bridges unfortunately I don't think it's ever going to be made
4:35
We're still heading up north along the river and I believe the next riverside
4:39
might be quite interesting for you. On one of our latest videos we were complaining about this riverside about the fact that it is closed Well now it opened and we found out that it only opened when some of the services
4:57
are open here. So we can show you now. This riverside used to have a pop, question is if
5:06
it will ever open. You can also rent a paddle boat or some of the water absorbing stuff and
5:11
And there's literally one bench under this beautiful blooming tree. And if you sit on it, you can enjoy the amazing view of the castle
5:22
I have to say that out of all the places I know in downtown Prague, this one is the most forgotten one
5:28
And this one can be improved the most and can really be a cool spot to go to
5:41
We crossed to the other side of the river, we are next to a very popular park which is
5:50
called Kampa right here and that gets quite crowded in the summer but not too many people
5:54
actually come here to the river. Partially the reason may be that there's this wall that is separating the park and the river
6:02
even though there are many places where you can get drinks and beer and sit here there's even a bar right here on the waterfront
6:08
Unfortunately you cannot continue on the riverside here because there's a fence that you will
6:12
eventually hit and cannot go any further, but we can continue this way
6:19
We came to the most popular site in Prague, which is the Charles Bridge
6:23
And there's also a riverside where you can sit down, have a drink, enjoy the view
6:27
And there's also a type of museum here, and that's these piers that are on the river
6:32
because I refer to them now as the museum of tourism, because the tourist boats are gone
6:37
how there's only cargo ships on the river but these piers were left here
6:41
unfortunately they were left here locked so you cannot go on them so I can
6:46
imagine if somebody would unlock them you would have even a better place to sit
6:50
on the river I don't think I've ever seen a cargo ship go under the Charles Bridgeman
7:02
this riverside this spot is especially popular because people come here to feed
7:07
the swans And I was told by many people that I should tell you that you shouldn feed the swans with bread and roll but rather a lettuce or some vegetables Also here you can see part of the riverside that was not man but is in the original state what it used to look like here 100 maybe 200 years ago
7:26
Also, not too many people actually come here to sit down and have a drink, even though there are a few benches over there
7:31
But there used to be a bar called Containall. It was a container where you could sit on top of it and have a drink
7:39
And we used to love it with Honza and we actually miss it a lot. Well, there's one more place we want to show you
7:54
The last spot by the river we want to show you is this one
7:58
And it's not really popular. People don't go here. And you may see why
8:02
Because you can't see the river, nor you can't really see the sights, because they're being obstructed by all the boats that are parking here
8:10
And also, there are a lot of cars. Also, if you come here and you do want to enjoy an evening with your friends
8:17
you don't really have a place to buy a drink or a beer, because the only place that is here, and now it's closed
8:22
is this bar, which is a tourist trap, according to all the reviews we found online
8:28
and I'm not the type of person that would buy a lemonade for 11 euros. But I
8:34
believe that with some touches and some things that can be done here, this place
8:38
can be as popular as the first riverside that we showed you that is very popular
8:43
in Prague. You simply put up some bars and restaurants, you move the boats so you
8:47
do have a view of the river and this can be the new hotspot. But if you come to
8:52
Prague, take a walk here, walk along the river. Our video today took a couple hours
8:56
to film and once you reach the end of this embankment, this riverside, there's a brewery
9:03
boat that you can sit on and have a drink beer and it's a place where we like to go
9:08
with Honza. That's it, we are the honest guides of Prague, Honza and Janek and I'll see you next Sunday
9:14
here on this channel that is almost reaching 1 million subscribers, which still doesn't
9:19
cross my mind. And a Czech word at the end is Naplavka, which is this road by the river, I don't think it's
9:25
it's riverside but in Czech we call it Naplavka. We also say Naplava to all the people that
9:31
were not born in Prague and moved to Prague
