Dividend Investing Vs Index Funds

Investing in dividend stocks vs index funds is a common question. For me it isn't an either or thing. Personally for dividend investing I research and investing in US dividend paying stocks. I have no interest in researching bonds or foreign stocks so I use index funds for my bond and foreign stock exposure. Dividend investing is good for those individuals who need income today, such as those who are retired or experiencing early retirement (and have time to and inclination to do the research required). While index investing is great for those individuals who do not have the time or interest to do the proper research. Index investing will give you diversification for minimal research time invested.
