Sailing the Bahamas: Tips & Insights If you’ve ever checked into the Bahamas, you know it’s supposed to be simple. Well, it is—until it’s not. Welcome to our adventure in West End, where things didn’t exactly go as planned, but we somehow found a great anchorage in the process. The Grand Entrance (Almost Too Grand) West End is often the first stop for sailors crossing from Florida to the Bahamas. It’s got a well-known marina, a customs office, and, most importantly, clear turquoise water that makes you want to jump in before even tying off the boat. Spoiler alert: We resisted, but barely. As we pulled into West End, we felt like pros. The sun was shining, the sea was calm, and our boat—against all odds—was cooperating. But, of course, no smooth sailing story stays smooth for long.
