Hey, Angel here for MyNextTablet.com today with an unboxing and hands-on of a smartphone
0:06
the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. Let's get to it. All right, I ordered and got the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro which is available in a couple of European
0:19
countries and I believe in Malaysia and probably some other countries as well
0:23
It is available in China as a Redmi K20 Pro. Yeah, Redmi K20 Pro, I believe that's the name in China and in another couple of other countries
0:35
So they had two phones, which are the same phones, but the names are different depending where you're from
0:41
Anyway, it's the first smartphone that's from Xiaomi that's directly available in Germany
0:45
Here, I paid 399 Euro as an early starter sale, but usually it costs around 450 Euros
0:53
And I'm sure prices are similar converted to US dollars elsewhere in the world
0:59
And yeah, you can see me unpacking the phone here. Let's check out the phone first
1:04
It has a quite nice design, a glass bag. I'm sure we will see some fingerprints
1:11
And yeah, then we have a SIM eject tool. Sadly, there's no microSD card slot, but at least you can eject the SIM tray
1:21
and then we've got quick start guide, warranty and so on and what's quite nice we've got a small
1:28
case here and then standard USB-C to type A cable and then of course a charger and yeah the setup
1:37
is like on pretty much every Android device first you put in your Wi-Fi then you can inside a sim if
1:45
you want to put in your Google credentials and what's special about this one is the 3-night print
1:51
scanner which is underneath the screen. So like with some other modern smartphones and like with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, the
2:00
fingerprint scanner sits underneath the display and you can set it up when first starting it
2:06
or later. It doesn't matter that much. Yeah, since I shot the first part of this unboxing video a couple of hours have passed
2:14
already and I tested the camera a bit, ran a couple of benchmarks and did a gaming test
2:18
so that I have a little bit more to tell you about this quite interesting smartphone
2:24
which certainly has flagship hardware, but is a lot cheaper than a Galaxy Note or something
2:31
All right, let's get to its design first. We've got a 6.39 inch screen on the front, and you are seeing that there is no notch or
2:40
no cutout for the camera because the camera actually pops out. we've seen on a couple of other smartphones and there's a very small bezel on the bottom here very
2:49
small bezels on the side so that's quite nice then we've got a glass back um yeah i believe that's
2:57
glass you will certainly see your fingerprints quite fast in here i believe and it's also a bit
3:01
slippery um not just because of the glass back but also because the camera has this little bump
3:07
here and I had placed it on here earlier and it was just sliding down slowly
3:14
Yeah, that's because of the slippery back here. I got the black version
3:18
There's also a blue version and a red version. And the red version looks quite nice but that wasn't available in Germany yet
3:26
where I got it. We've got three cameras on the back. There's an 8 megapixel telephoto camera. Then there's a 48 megapixel main camera
3:35
and a 13 megapixel wide-angle camera and then we've got an LED flashlight below it
3:41
By the way, the selfie camera has a resolution of 20 megapixels
3:45
The side here the bezel the frame that not metal it plastic That certainly a downside And that where you can see that it is not a super high premium device
3:58
Yeah, it's a plastic bezel here around the best plastic frame still seems to be well made
4:06
And we've got a power, you know, the volume rocker here, then the power button
4:09
And then on the bottom, we've got one single speaker. And the sound quality of that speaker is actually pretty good
4:15
It's quite loud, but it's just one speaker so you won't have any stereo separation
4:21
Then we've got a microphone, a USB-C port and then the SIM tray
4:27
Let's quickly get it out so you can check it out. You can put in two SIM cards
4:32
So it's a dual SIM slot, which I really like because I travel a lot and I actually always
4:37
have two SIMs in my phone. So that's nice to see. but it would also be nice to see
4:43
if you can put a micro SD card in one of those slots. But yeah, that's not possible
4:48
On this side, we've got nothing, and on the top, what's really nice to see
4:52
is we still have a standard headphone jack. That's nice, and then here's a selfie camera
4:57
Again, 20 megapixels. Yeah, so much about the design of the Xiaomi Mi 19 Pro
5:05
Let's check out the screen. As I said, it's a 6.39 inch display
5:10
with a tall aspect ratio. And it's a AMOLED screen. And it's probably made from Samsung by Samsung
5:19
And it's a pretty nice one. Saturation is nice. I already used it outside in direct sun
5:23
because it's very warm here right now. And it's readable. It's not the brightest screen ever
5:30
but it's certainly decent. And you will be able to use it outside without many issues
5:35
It has a resolution of 2340 by 1080. So basically it's a full HD screen
5:42
but a little bit taller towards the top. And on a 6.3, nine inch screen
5:48
I think the pixel density is fine. Everything looks nice and sharp
5:52
especially when you're used to tablet screens, smartphones, at least mid-range and higher ones
5:57
are always a bit sharper than tablet screens, at least usually. So yeah, the screen is pretty nice
6:04
Let's get to its internal hardware. Insight runs a Snapdragon 855 from Qualcomm
6:11
which is one of the highest end chips Qualcomm is making right now
6:17
So it's on the same level as pretty much every other high-end Android phone at the moment
6:23
which is nice. Then we get six gigabytes of RAM and a 128 gigabyte internal storage
6:30
In some countries, you can also get it with 256 gigabyte, but I got the 128 gigabyte version
6:37
Again, there's no microSD card slot, so you have to get the storage option that you want
6:44
We also get a 4000 milliamp hour battery, which is quite big and it has wifi
6:53
There's an ad, it has wifi, Bluetooth and NFC and GPS, of course, it's included as well
7:01
well. I already did take some important screenshots. First of all, out of those 128
7:08
gigabytes, 10.6 gigabytes are used by the system out of the box. So that's Android
7:15
itself and the MIUI and the pre-installed apps. And I already ran Antutu, an Antutu
7:21
benchmark, and it's got 364,000 points, which is normal for a Snapdragon 855
7:30
which is just on there like other phones. And in Geekbench it got 3460 and almost 11 points in the multi test and that again is very similar to other snapdragon 855 devices like the samsung galaxy tab s6 for example that the other one snapdragon 855 i using at the
7:53
moment and here you can see my gaming test here right now i'm running pubg mobile and it looks
8:00
really nice on the screen and the graphics look really nice too you can select hdr graphics and
8:06
the frame rate is set to extreme and yeah it runs very smoothly and the graphics look really nice on
8:13
here and on the screen as well I quite like the display and yeah so it seems to be a really good
8:20
gaming phone if you want to do a lot of gaming. However while I played PUBG Mobile the phone got
8:26
quite hot so that's obviously a downside of high-end gaming it will get quite hot. All right let's talk
8:34
about the cameras a bit. Again on the back we've got three cameras. There's a standard camera a 48
8:42
megapixel one. Then there's a wide angle camera which is a 13 megapixel one and then there's an
8:48
eight megapixel telephoto camera which basically is two times zoom and the wide angle one is a 0.6
8:56
times zoom or zoom out and yeah we also have an led flash and again the selfie camera that pops out
9:04
let me quickly show you there that's how you see it that pops out like that that one has a resolution
9:12
of 20 megapixels so so much about the cameras i did do a couple of tests already you are seeing
9:21
them here right now and the main cameras on the back take pretty good photos and especially the
9:27
48 megapixel one i quite like the quality we don't have any optical image stabilization on
9:33
any of them so that's certainly missing from some other premium devices but the image quality of
9:40
the cameras is pretty good the main camera and takes the best photos and but the wide angle one
9:45
is okay too and the zoomed in one is all right as well. The same goes for videos. It's decent quality
9:52
not amazing but certainly good. But I noticed that the telephoto camera is not used when you
10:00
zoom in two times in video mode. It uses the main camera and crops into that one. So for video
10:08
the telephoto camera is not used. That's important to know. And you can see it in this example
10:14
it's quite noisy because it's cropped in from the main camera. Yeah, so telephoto for video is certainly not ideal, but otherwise it seems to be fine
10:27
I read that a couple of people complained about the selfie camera, about the quality
10:32
You'll see an example too here and to me it seemed all right
10:37
Nothing amazing again, but it seems okay. I will certainly have to test that in more detail
10:43
By the way, there's no optical image stabilization, but if you are in video mode, then you can
10:51
use electronic image stabilization, which works okay. But for that, it obviously crops in the picture a bit
10:57
All right, let's get to the software of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
11:02
On it is running Android 9 Pie. Let's quickly confirm it here
11:07
And on top of Android 9 sits the MIUI in version 10.3.1
11:14
That's the current interface from Xiaomi. And as you can see already, it customized the interface really heavily, especially compared
11:22
to vanilla Android. It also looks much different than the One UI or the Emotion UI
11:27
For example the One UI is Samsung and the Emui Emotion UI is Huawei And yeah the design you have to get used to it a bit I don think it looks bad but I like vanilla android too but it doesn seem too bad to me yeah the app drawer is missing that a bit
11:46
sad I like the app drawer and you can't activate it so I've got tons of apps pre-installed they've
11:52
got their own browser gallery music their security feature then there's a calculator fm radio a
11:59
compass, a screen recorder, and so on. Then obviously the Google apps are pre-installed
12:05
all of the standard ones, including the Google Play Store, by the way. Weather app, calendar, a files manager
12:11
Opera's pre-installed, a Notes app, Netflix, WPS Office, Facebook, and AliExpress are pre-installed
12:19
And by the way, I did a Netflix test already. You can watch Netflix in 1080p
12:26
Yeah, I installed those benchmarks and the game myself. By the way, I also installed manual camera
12:31
because with the standard camera app, you cannot take raw photos. And I wanted to try if that's possible on here
12:39
And it works with another camera app. You can take DNG photos and you don't have to take JPEGs
12:45
But that's only five from, let's say, stock camera app supports. All right, so, yeah, I don't know what else to say about the software
12:54
There are really tons of settings. yeah there's a double tap to awake you can activate it you can have raise to wake activated
13:03
however with the fingerprint scanner i don't need that the fingerprint scanner works pretty well
13:09
maybe not super fastest but yeah it works so you don't really need tap to wake or so
13:17
there's a dark mode which obviously can be useful because we've got an amulet screen here
13:22
Where is it? Yeah, let's turn it on. And there are tons of other settings, blue light filters, themes
13:29
You can obviously change your wallpaper. You can duplicate an app so you can log into two Facebook accounts, for example
13:37
I really have to go through all the software because I haven't used the MIUI in quite a while
13:43
All right, that's my unboxing and hands-on of the Xiaomi Mi 90 Pro
13:47
My first impressions are pretty good. For the price we get a really fast processor just like on a premium device
13:53
We get a nice AMOLED screen and up-to-date software. Android 9, that's okay right now
14:01
And what else? We get pretty decent cameras on the back. Selfie camera seems to be okay as well
14:07
Obviously some things are missing. We don't have a micro SD card slot. We don't have a metal frame
14:12
And it probably would have been nice since we don't have any wireless charging anyways
14:16
to have a full metal body. It might be a bit better than having glass on the front and back
14:23
But besides that, it seems to be a really nice smartphone for its price, especially
14:28
We get really high-end internals, good cameras, a nice screen. And then, yeah, we have to do some compromises
14:35
No metal, no microSD cut slot, no waterproofing. But, yeah, we're getting a really fast phone so far for this price
14:44
I like it but I will have to test it more thoroughly now especially the cameras
14:50
I want to take a look at them in more detail too. If you have any questions anything I should test with this device please write me in the
14:56
comments so I can put that into my review. And yeah check out mynextablet.com
