This comes after U.S. negotiators handed Iran a formal written proposal during recent talks in

Oman. Iran's foreign minister took the document back to Tehran for review by President Pazeshkian

Supreme Leader Khamenei, and other senior officials. The U.S. proposal lays out what

a civilian nuclear program could look like, including inspections and limits on enrichment

Trump envoy Steve Witkoff called it very big in a briefing to the UN Security Council But there still plenty to work out Iran says it open to cutting back enrichment and giving up its stockpile of weapons uranium if the U

lifts all nuclear sanctions. A top advisor to Iran's supreme leader told NBC News

they'd accept inspections and limit enrichment to civilian use. The big sticking point is whether

Iran can keep enriching uranium inside the country. The U.S. hasn't said if that's a deal breaker

and Iran says it won't give up that right. Some officials have talked about a workaround

sending enriched uranium to countries like Saudi Arabia in exchange for investment

but that could raise security concerns. Talks between Iran and European diplomats are set for

Friday in Istanbul. A final deal would need approval from Iran's supreme leadership and
