There's that joke about Gen Z where they wear two pieces of clothes that don't match and a pair of cowboy boots
0:04
and think it's a cute outfit and even though I am not Gen Z, I am so guilty of that
0:10
Hi, I'm Mazie Schloss and I have a brand called Mazie Willen and today I'm here to show you some of my favorite pieces from my wardrobe
0:17
So my personal style is very colorful, very print-driven, very playful. I love anything that can make me smile or almost seems a little goofy
0:27
I'm so drawn to things that aren't too serious. I think this actually comes from my thrifting love
0:33
because when I'm shopping in a big thrift warehouse, the things that are bright are what sticks out
0:38
on a rack of thousands of pieces. But I also just think it's so much fun to play
0:42
with clashing prints and it can add just so much to an outfit, it seems more exciting to me
0:47
Okay, so I'll start with this dress. So this, I feel like it's just such a mazy piece
0:55
On most days you'll find me driving around LA in a big, brightly printed, muumuu-type dress
1:01
If you know my design aesthetic at all, you know I love a big, bold print
1:06
And also I'm truly a vintage girl. I love nothing more than thrifting and going to a big warehouse and sorting through everything
1:14
until I find a treasure like this. I also cut off the hem, which is something I do a lot, although in the past few years
1:20
I've started wearing a few of the full lengths. So next is this Mickey and Minnie two-sided little t-shirt dress
1:28
I just love cartoons in general. I love old cartoons and I just love anything that's really cute on it
1:35
Like a cute character I'm such a sucker for. But I love this too because it's a bit older and tattered
1:41
It has a bit of an edge, almost like a punk edge to it. More so than something you'd get boxed fresh at the park today
1:48
I do love Minnie Mouse. I actually have a Minnie Mouse tattoo on my leg
1:52
and when I got it done I intentionally had the tattoo artist make it a little messed up because
1:58
I love it when they're a bit taken out of their sort of polished image so another another Disney
2:06
thing I promise I'm not like a Disney adult but I do love a cartoon is this insane like men's 70s
2:13
work shirt but if you look up close Mickey Minnie and Donald are the Dutch masters this is just some
2:21
truly incredible print design. As a print designer, I just wonder how this came to be
2:27
Honestly, Disney, if you are interested in doing some very strange licensing like this again
2:32
please call me. So here's another thrift find that I really treasure. It's an LVMH t-shirt
2:39
and on the back has all of their properties listed. It almost looks like they sponsored
2:43
a fun run or something. Honestly, because it's a thrift store find, I don't know the origin story
2:49
of this, but it's just so funny to me. Something about me is I love oddity attractions. Any sort of
2:56
like world's biggest basket or like the celebrity pet cemetery. I love learning about them. I love
3:03
traveling to strange places to see them. And this shirt, which is from the official center of the
3:09
world in Felicity California is a perfect example of one such attraction Its history is too weird and long to explain in this video so I encourage you all to do the research and hopefully visit it But I love this because it reminds me of going there
3:24
And also, out of context, it almost looks like a weird cult t-shirt, which I think is funny and cool
3:29
So this gets a lot of wear in my rotation. This isn't even all of the faux animal print miniskirts I own
3:37
I'm a super fan of the movie Josie and the cats, which came out when I was a kid
3:44
I'm convinced I've seen it more than anyone else on Earth, including the people who worked on it
3:48
Like, I watch it all the time. And it was so formative for my aesthetic
3:53
And these skirts feel very Josie and the cats. And honestly, like, even with a t-shirt, if I'm not in a brightly printed muumuu, I'm probably in an outfit like this
4:06
it's just so easy and so cute for me like this with some flats I can go anywhere so this is a
4:13
jacket I got from a vintage dealer but I love it because of this very dramatic feathered picture
4:21
collar I just think I look like an evil villain in this it's really over the top looking just this
4:29
insane neckline and shoulders so I just think it's such a fun piece this little jacket
4:35
it. So here is a dress from my first collection of Maisie Willen. It just is such a Maisie Willen
4:43
dress in that it's in our signature featherweight jersey, which is so lightweight and comfortable
4:48
and honestly the most flattering fabric. And it also has a print designed by me on it. I'm so
4:54
proud of this dress. It's one of the first pieces that put us on the map and got us some recognition
4:58
and honestly I'm just really proud of the design too. The print is so dynamic, has this flocking which gives it a bit of dimension
5:08
The cut really looks great on everyone and yeah, it's an early piece I'm so proud of
5:14
This is a very recent Maisie Willen piece. It's from our last collection and we call this the perforated gown
5:20
Probably what I've become most known for are my perforated sets. So typically it's this fabric with the turtleneck and leggings
5:26
and they've just blown up. Anybody who tries them on really gets it
5:32
because even like these holes really expand and contract in the right places
5:37
And even for a fabric that looks so skimpy, it really gives you that hold that you want
5:43
from something that's skin tight. So they feel great on and they've also become so popular
5:50
So I started offering the material in new shapes and I think this new silhouette for it
5:55
It's just so beautiful with the open neckline and the cutout. I'm excited to have it released this month in stores
6:02
This dress I bought when I was working in the suburbs of Florence
6:07
I was at their equivalent of like a Dollar Tree. And they were selling a bunch of these dresses for kids
6:14
If anybody knows this correctly, please DM me and give me the answer. But I think these are actually what Italian kids wear to school
6:20
And then also with my sweater, I'm wearing a pair of trousers from my latest collection
6:26
These are actually from our men collection that we launching this season which is going to be in stores in a matter of weeks So that rewarding because I always trying to expand the categories we offer at Maisie
6:38
Bullen. These represent our expansion and growth over the years, and I love them. They just have a
6:44
cool sort of alien print to them. They're a little spooky, but I can see myself wearing them every day
6:52
So this is another jacket I thrifted. I believe it's vintage Comme des Gersons, although I'm not positive
6:59
But the craftsmanship of it is just so stunning. It has these interwoven silk pieces that kind of have movement to them through how they're constructed
7:10
Whenever I'm thrifting, I love searching for these hyper unusual pieces that feel like one of a kind
7:19
Anything like this sticks out to me. I'll grab it instantly. So here is a necklace by Tom Binns. I actually worked for them as my first
7:30
job out of college. I was doing retail in their New York shop and I just love the details on this
7:38
If you look up close, they're little gold plated screws. Okay, this next necklace is my compass
7:45
I actually wore this nearly every single day for parts of high school and college. It's like a
7:50
seven-year period where I wore this daily. It used to actually be functional, and pre-having an iPhone
7:56
I would actually use this four directions when I would go out. It was handy, but wearing it every
8:02
day, it's fallen apart a bit. I put it on a chain, and then the supporting charms kind of have evolved
8:09
over time. I currently have this little cat, rabbit's foot. This is one of those, you know
8:15
picture viewer type things from an old vacation but I love how chunky it is and it really adds
8:23
so much to any silhouette so as I said earlier I'm a sucker for anything cute and cartoony and
8:30
honestly this doesn't have that special of an origin story I got it recently at the Sherman
8:34
Oaks mall that's part of the tale but I just love this type of playful light-hearted accessory in my
8:43
closet. So this is a vintage Margella purse. It's in their signature style with the clasp sides
8:53
It's this beautiful pony hair. I think it's just so stunningly made but also when I bought it I was
8:59
at this consignment shop and I think there was a guy there working that I think was like the husband
9:04
of the owner. He didn't really know what was going on. There was no price on it. I asked how much it
9:10
was and he was pointing to the tag inside which is a signature marjala tag with the numbers and
9:16
they circle the relevant collection but he kept saying to me like see it has a serial code it
9:22
proves it's really valuable it has its high quality it has a serial code i was just biting
9:26
my tongue going uh-huh and then he quoted me like next to nothing for it because he didn't know what
9:31
he had and i feel like it was such a win so here are my cowboy poots i wear them all the time
9:39
There that joke about Gen Z where they wear two pieces of clothes that don match and a pair of cowboy boots and think it a cute outfit And even though I am not Gen Z I am so guilty of that I think that these are just complete anything I love wearing them
9:54
They perfect any outfit, the little cards. It's incredible how I ended up with these
10:00
because I was at a friend's house once and she had a vintage, I think it was like an early 80s
10:05
Playboy on her coffee table. And I was flipping through it and the centerfold was wearing nothing but these boots
10:12
And I was like, wow, those are incredible. Those are such cool boots
10:15
And then a few days later, I wasn't even particularly searching for them
10:19
But they came up on my For You page on Etsy in my size. It just seemed like such incredible luck
10:25
So I snagged them right away and have been wearing them a ton ever since
10:30
I really love them. Outside of Florence, where I once spent a lot of time for work
10:35
is an incredible Prada outlet. and because it's near their factory and their headquarters I think that they sell some sort of
10:44
like one-offs there and some runway pieces so these boots I got there and I'm not positive of
10:52
this but I think they might be a runway sample but they're just so special to me with these
10:56
you know carved wooden heels all of the leather patchwork I think they're so beautiful and yeah
11:03
But if you ever have a chance to go to the Florence Outlets, these were like 50 bucks
11:08
So unsurprisingly, more cute stuff. I'm just obsessed with these little pink bunny heels
11:14
They're so sweet, but they also feel so vintage. Honestly, I do wear these a lot
11:20
I think they're just perfect for any outfit. I love that they have the little eyes
11:25
I found them randomly from an Instagram shop. That was pretty small called Street Seas
11:32
but I just think they're perfect. So these are one of the four pairs of sneakers with my
11:40
collaboration with Keds. Working with Keds just seemed really fresh to me. I really associate it
11:47
with when I was in high school. I was in high school during like a peak indie sleaze
11:53
like late 2000s era and this is what we were all wearing at the time. Like this is what
11:58
You know, the cool kids had on either their little canvas sneakers going everywhere
12:03
They felt so indie to me. So they felt nostalgic, but at the same time, as a print-based brand
12:11
these are literally a blank canvas for my artwork. So I'm really proud of them. I think they're so cute
12:17
So this is another one of the styles I released with Keds. This also feels so nostalgic for me, almost like an Apple Levine type thing with all the studs
12:26
It's such a practical shoe, ultimately. you know just this slide on sneaker like I wear these to run to my laundry room I wear these to
12:33
go to the grocery store but at the same time they have this absurd element of this being covered in
12:39
spikes almost like a little hedgehog and it's just been so exciting to see such a commercial
12:44
piece available for Maisie Bowen and yeah you can still get them on our website. There you have it
12:51
these are some of my favorite pieces from my wardrobe thanks for watching
