Hey, I'm Jocelyn and this is my dear friend Sandra and we are back for another Friday cocktail and today we are making a boulevardier
0:10
She takes French so she can say that. You can say it too if you try
0:15
This is a great drink, it's a nice historic drink as we often try to come up with on this show
0:21
And it was, the story goes, invented by Erskine Gwynn, who was the publisher of Boulevardier magazine in Paris in the late 1920s and early 30s
0:32
And Boulevardier means a man about town. And it was written for American expats living in Paris at the time
0:39
Interesting. Yeah, it's a cool drink. And so it's really easy to put together
0:43
I have some ice here, and I'm going to use just the bottom half of my shaker as a mixing glass today
0:48
we're gonna start with bourbon thank you that's what I'm here for
0:57
on your soup tender soup tender okay ounce and a half of bourbon
1:05
take an ounce of campari okay bourbon and campari seem funny to me
1:13
together right let's see who's laughing when the drink is push I won't laugh
1:19
I promise. It's not gin. Only gin makes me laugh. Well, we're going to be doing its close cousin
1:26
made with gin shortly so stay tuned OK And then that was Sweet Vermouth This this sweet Ruth please do not substitute dry remove or what they not allowable how much did you
1:39
put in there an ounce so parts one one in one of the Campari and vermouth in
1:45
one and a half of the bourbon okay stir that up chill
1:52
And once you feel it's nice and cool, I am going to strain it into another glass with
2:02
fresh ice. Can I garnish? Please do. And we just have an orange twist
2:06
I like the big fat, not overly beautiful. I kind of like the rough swath of orange for this. Okay
2:16
Dang, that's good. You like it? Yeah, that is not what I was expecting at all
2:27
So it reminds me a little bit of the Americano, which is just Campari and sweet vermouth, which we have another video on
2:34
But the addition of bourbon, which happens to be my favorite, really nice
2:40
I like it, and that orange, you know, that right on top, that bright orange on the nose is amazing
2:47
Don't leave out your orange. That garnish means something, right? For sure
2:51
And then this is a close cousin of the Negroni. Look for another video on that one
2:57
Yeah. Well, so we've got a whole bunch that are all kissing cousins, right? That's true. Awesome
3:01
All right. Cheers, y'all
