This DIY depicts the removal process of a shifter lever assembly off of a Mercedes Benz 2000 E430. This is the same removal process on any W210 Benz model.
This ws quite easy to do, however the shifter assembly requires a special socket to remove the bolts that hold it down. These sockets are called torx key sockets, some people also call them tamper proof sockets. The other thing, is that you have to remove the arm rest assembly prior to removing the shift lever assembly.
