This video details the quick and easy process on replacing a BMW E36 Climate Control Module. 
Climate Control Modules have two clips on either end that holds the module in place, replacement is as easy as fitting a flathead screwdriver onto the clip and popping the module out. 
AC modules can often be repaired through soldering joints inside the module. There are several excellent videos on YouTube detailing this process.
