Front bumper removal is easy on a BMW E36. In this video I remove a bumper on a 1996 BMW 328i.
There are four nuts in the front holding the front bumper to the frame of the vehicle. In order to remove the nuts you must first remove the two plastic trim pieces that cover the nuts. 
Afterwards you must remove one of the mud flap screws in order to access the fog light wire connector and the outside temperature air sensor connector.
The BMW E36 videoed did not have the temperature air sensor.
There are three screws on either side of the front bumper that must be removed in order to remove the bumper. 
At this point it is helpful to have a helper to remove the bumper but it's not necessary. The bumper simply slides out of the latches on the sides.
