The Brine Shrimp, Artemia: Inhabitant of the Great Salt Lake

A tiny marine crustacean inhabiting non-oceanic saline environments, there are over 13 species of brine shrimp. The best known, Artemia salina is located in the Great Salt Lake of Utah and also in the San Francisco Bay in California. These creatures are of great importance, since they provide food to many fish and birds. They are also of considerable interest to researchers and hobbyists.
