Igor Larionov tells team back home to ‘play without me’ so he can celebrate with Detroit Red Wings

It’s crazy to think that it has already been over 25 years since the Detroit Red Wings won their first Stanley Cup since 1955. In 1997, the Red Wings defeated the Philadelphia Flyers four games to zero to hoist their first Stanley Cup in 42 years. The entire city of Detroit (and everyone else in the area) celebrated in the streets. On Thursday, some of the players from the ’97 squad were at Little Caesars Arena to celebrate the 25h Anniversary of winning the Cup.
