Brown sona masoori rice 1/3 cup White chana 1/2 cup (cooked) Garlic 3 cloves Coriander seeds 1 tsp Channa dal 1 tsp Red chili 1 and 1/2 Coconut 2 tblsp Ghee 1/2 tsp Oil 4 tsp Salt as needed Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp Curry leaves few Method: Wash the rice and soak this in water for 10 minutes. Pressure cook this for 6-7 whistles and keep in a lowest possible flame for 5 minutes. Switch off the flame. Cook the soaked chana also in the cooker in a separate vessel. Chop the garlic finely. In a pan add ghee and add the chopped garlic, coriander seeds, channa dal and red chili. Roast it till the dal and garlic turns brown. Add the coconut and roast it in a low flame. Switch off the flame once the coconut turns slightly brown. Allow this to cool completely. Grind this into a fine powder. In a pan add oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Add the cooked chana. You can add peanuts also and skip the chana. Add the cooked rice to this. Add the garlic spice powder to this. Mix gently and evenly. Add salt. Mix well. Switch off the flame. Serve with any raita or papad or vadam.
