Bluetooth technology, initially regarded as revolutionary when introduced in May 1999, has made substantial progress, with the latest iteration being Bluetooth 5.4. This ubiquitous technology is integrated into various devices such as cars, smartphones, tablets, wearables, and smart home gadgets, enabling secure wireless data exchange. Despite its advantages, Bluetooth has inherent limitations in terms of range and data transfer speed. Bluetooth 5, launched in July 2016, was a game-changer, offering significant enhancements over Bluetooth 4 by doubling transfer speeds, quadrupling the range, and boosting data transfer rates eightfold. It also enabled simultaneous connections to two Bluetooth devices and introduced Low Energy (LE) technology for power-efficient data transfer. While Bluetooth 5.1 brought no major changes, Bluetooth 5.2, introduced in December 2019, focused on enhancing connection stability, introducing Isochronous Channels and "Low Energy (LE) Audio." Bluetooth 5.3, released in July 2021, aimed at improving the user experience with features like "Periodic Advertising Enhancement," "Encryption Key Size Control Enhancements," and "Channel Classification Enhancement." To determine the supported Bluetooth version on a Windows computer, users can enable Bluetooth, access the Device Manager, and match the Link Manager Protocol Version with the provided table for accurate identification.
