Which one's the better headset, Logitech or E-Meet? Let's check them out
0:11
Dave Taylor here and I'm comparing the E-Meet HS20 computer headset with the Logitech H390
0:19
computer headset. Now, both of them are super affordable, both of them are really light
0:24
both of them have boom microphones, they are wired only, they want a USB-A connection
0:31
but there are some differences. So, let's start with the E-Meet and I'm going to give you some
0:36
sample audio and all sorts of stuff. But I'm going to start with this and I will note that
0:41
you can use it on your left ear or if you prefer, it will spin all the way around and you can use
0:46
it on your right ear, which is a differentiator. So, this is the E-Meet HS20 computer headset and
0:54
it features a 360-degree omnidirectional mic with noise canceling. I'm going to demo that noise
1:00
canceling and you'll be pretty astonished. It also has my favorite feature, is that there's a
1:06
3.5 millimeter connector. So, you can use this with something that only has 3.5 millimeter
1:12
like some older phones, or you can plug it into this, which is an inline controller
1:19
included, and then the end of that gives you that USB-A that lets you plug it into a Mac, a PC
1:26
a Linux machine, a Chromebook, whatever you got, it's going to plug in and it's going to be an
1:30
external microphone and external speaker. Now, when we look at the inline controller, it has
1:35
four features. It has a mute button, it has a speaker on-off button, if you just need to take
1:41
a break from the audio, and it has volume up and down. So, all of this, super easy to work with
1:47
Let me go ahead and give you a sample from it. So, I'm going to plug it into my PC. Let's see
1:53
if I can get it to go in there. And then it is adjustable, so you can adjust it and has lots
2:02
of different adjustments. I'm going to go ahead and use it where the microphone is on my left ear
2:06
and it's pretty darn comfortable. Now, what I want to do is I want to have background noise
2:13
so you'll see me touching this device and then when I turn that on, it's going to sound like
2:21
I'm in a coffee shop or a busy office or something, or somewhere on the road, which is pretty common
2:28
for people using headsets. It might be a noisy house, but be that as it may, that's poised to go
2:34
So, now what I want to do is let me get this computer started and I'm going to go into the
2:39
voice app, which should be running, but it's not. That's suspicious, right? So, let's see
2:45
Sound recorder. And so, what you're going to be hearing. Now, what you're hearing is you're hearing
2:54
the microphone, this microphone, picking up my voice and there's no background noise. So, of
3:00
course, it sounds really clean, but now I'm going to turn on that background noise
3:07
And amazingly, you can't hear it at all. In fact, I sound the same even though it's noisy, so I
3:13
could be in like a call center or something. Now, let's turn this off just so you can hear that
3:18
difference again. So, now I'm still recording off this microphone, but there's no background noise
3:24
Let me stop this recording and you can hear it's pretty remarkable. That noise reduction is really
3:31
like noise elimination and this is great for a call center. Or again, if you're working from
3:37
home and you've got some noisy kids, but you've got to be professional on the phone, this can
3:42
actually cover that. So, it is the E-Meet HS20 computer headset and I will also point out that
3:50
it has this super long cable. It is a seven and a half foot cable and yet it is incredibly light
3:58
It's 6.1 ounces. It's significantly lighter than the Logitech unit. Let me just close this part way
4:04
and I guess I'll unplug it too so you can see. This is a lot of cable. It's a pretty big inline
4:10
control, but that makes it easy for you to get to and to manage. And I like that it's a little
4:15
further down the wire because you'll see the Logitech one might be just a little bit too close
4:20
to you. So, it also, as I said, you can be left ear or right ear dominant in terms of your microphone
4:28
And then let's talk about the sound because if you did also want to just like fold it up and
4:33
use these as music headphones, they're surprisingly nice sounding. They actually have a really nice
4:39
full sound. Now, it's not an audiophile headphone experience, but it's surprisingly good for
4:46
something at this price point. And I'll talk about the price at the very end. So, this is the E-Meet
4:51
HS20. Now, let's switch focus and this is the Logitech H390 wired headset. And this is the
5:01
number one best-selling headset for the computer headset category on Amazon. So, it's pretty
5:08
popular. And as you can see, it's also adjustable. It's also super light. It's a little bit heavier
5:15
at 7 ounces. The cable is actually 6.2 feet and there's no 3.5 millimeter option. So, if you want
5:23
to use this with something that doesn't have USB-A, it's up to you to figure out an adapter
5:28
And I don't know if they make a USB-A to 3.5 millimeter adapter. Maybe they do. But if you
5:34
need that, then this might not be the right headset for you. It features a unidirectional
5:40
microphone. It also has noise canceling. And the earpiece is laser-tuned drivers, is what Logitech
5:47
says. So, it's USB-A only. It does have an inline control. It's a little bit more funky, the control
5:53
but it does have a clip on the back. So, you can easily clip it to your shirt or something. So, now
5:59
I'm going to put this on. And it's also super comfortable. So, this was 6.1 ounces. This is 7
6:06
ounces. So, basically the same weight. Or maybe just a smidge heavier. But really, given how many
6:14
heavy headphones I use, I really have not noticed this weight at all. It just feels like you barely
6:20
have anything on. Let's see. There we go. Now, it's plugged in. So, we're going to do the same
6:26
thing. There's no background noise. Let me start this recording. So, now what you're hearing is
6:31
you're hearing the audio from the Logitech microphone. And I can double check on here
6:37
that my control is not showing that it's muted, which is great. So, let's turn on that background
6:42
noise. And again, you can't really hear it at all. And in fact, as I continue talking with this loud
6:51
background, you really just hear me talking, which is remarkable. Now, let's stop this again
6:57
It's a little hard for me to focus with that much noise. That's a whole separate conversation
7:02
But you can hear the Logitech also does a really nice job with its unidirectional microphone
7:08
and its noise canceling. So, let me switch back microphones. And so, this one has that USB-A only with the also inline control. It's a little bit more
7:21
quirky. I kind of like that, that it's a little bit more playful than just a straight inline
7:26
bunch of buttons. But that's, I think, a personal preference. So, these also sound really good. I
7:32
think we're at an era now where if you have even inexpensive headphones that don't sound
7:38
headphones that don't sound really good for music, then either they're tuned just for voice
7:43
which is a deliberate choice that a manufacturer can make, or you just have headphones that aren't
7:48
very good. Because both of these actually are nice music headphones. Now, notice the difference in
7:54
the size of the earcup. So, that's going to make a difference in comfort level. So, I think some
8:01
people prefer the smaller earcup like this. But personally, I actually like the larger earcup
8:08
Could be because I have slightly larger ears. However, I will say that when this fits on my head
8:14
I feel like the earpieces are more evenly balanced on my ear. Whereas with the eMeat
8:20
it feels like, as you can see here, the bottom is pushing a little more than the top is. So
8:26
there's a sort of flex here that the eMeat doesn't have. But because of the way Logitech designed
8:32
that earcup, the Logitech does have. Which leads us to the question of, okay, they both have great
8:39
noise canceling. They both sound good. They both have inline controls. What are the fundamental
8:45
differences and which one's better? So, one of the fundamental differences is that the eMeat gives you
8:51
that additional feature of 3.5 millimeter AUX. So, it gives you more flexibility and more capabilities
8:59
I also like that you can use it whether you want to have the microphone off your left ear or your
9:05
right ear. The Logitech does not support that. And then otherwise, you know, there's the different
9:11
design of the inline control and the different size of the earcups. But those are probably more
9:16
personal preference. So, one of the other differences is price. So, before I get to price though
9:23
I'm going to invite you to click on that subscribe button to subscribe to my channel
9:27
Really appreciate that. And if you found this useful, go ahead and give me a like or a thumbs up
9:31
Also really appreciate that. Now, let's talk price and then I'll compare them. So, this
9:36
is the eMeat HS20 computer headset and it's $24.99. Currently $19.99 with a 10% discount coupon
9:47
for $17.99 at Amazon.com. That is a ridiculously low price for something with this set of capabilities
9:54
and this flexibility. If you spend any time on the phone or on Zoom or on Skype or on Microsoft
10:01
Teams or on Google Meet, whatever it is, if you're spending time talking to people and or listening
10:08
to people, this is a kind of game changer for you. It's certainly a million times better than
10:13
holding a phone up to your ear or using the phone as a speakerphone and thinking that the other
10:18
doesn't actually dislike what they're hearing. This is so much better. So, $17.99 at Amazon.com
10:27
This is the Logitech H390 wired headset and it's $39.99. Currently discounted down to $21.88
10:38
at Amazon.com. So, you basically have $21.88 versus $17.99 and this one has a little bit more
10:48
flexibility and a little bit more ways you can use it. So, I'll let you decide. This is the
10:53
category leader so you know this is a rock solid, been around forever, had millions of people use
10:59
it. But, you know, this eMeat one's a heck of an up-and-comer. So, you make your choice. Either
11:05
way, I think you're going to be happy. Me, I think I'm going to go with the eMeat. So
11:09
that means I'll have to catch you in my next video
